Jayna Yeong is an occupational therapy who graduated from La Trobe University, Australia and the Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore.
Jayna has a keen interest in working with children. Her natural love and ability to bond with them is her strongest asset. Her experience includes working with children with the diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder, dyspraxia, attention deficit disorder, dysfunction of sensory integration, developmental delay, speech and language disorders, learning disabilities and Asperger’s syndrome. She has successfully implemented occupational therapy protocols in schools, both in the private and public setting. She actively works with children at the Autism Association Singapore as well as the MINDS-Children’s Wing. She has also held parent education seminars for the Autism Association Singapore.
Her internships in Singapore had provided her with the opportunity to be involved within the pediatric setting in both government and private practice. During her studies in Australia, she also had the chance to take up ‘Occupational Therapy Practice with Children’ as one of her curriculum. In this curriculum, she was able to go through a 6 week program in one of the local schools, working with a group of children who have problems in handwriting. It was a great exposure conducting group as well as individual sessions, empowering the children with strategies in dealing with their difficulties in handwriting.
Her areas of interest include:
Use of therapeutic listening to provide additional support and enhancement to individual occupational therapy treatment.
Exploring the use and benefit of Floortime with children with various diagnosis such as autism, developmental delay etc.
Use of sensory integration framework to provide efficient occupational therapy assessment and treatment for children with sensory integration dysfunction.
