Alison Ng is an occupational therapist who graduated from La Trobe University, Australia and the Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore. She is a member of the Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists (SAOT).
She has been specializing in the field of pediatrics since 2005. She is focused on a parent-therapist collaboration using a client centred approach. During her studies, she also had the opportunity to focus on Art Therapy (e.g. how to get children to express themselves better through artwork). She also completed an evidence review entitled “Virtual reality (VR) in paediatric neurorehabilitation: Its effectiveness for improving upper limb functional outcome in children with acquired brain injury (ABI)”. Her areas of interest include:
Exploring the benefits of therapeutic listening programs with children with various diagnoses
Using the sensory integration and praxis modules to provide efficient occupational therapy assessment and treatment for children with learning difficulties
Learning about the various occupational therapy assessments available and using them according to the children’s sensory motor issues or learning difficulties (She has attended relevant courses, e.g. being certified in The Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) by A. Jean Ayres.)
Alison’s clinical experience has seen her working with children with the diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder, dyspraxia, attention deficit disorder, dysfunction of sensory integration, developmental delay, speech and language disorders, learning disabilities and Asperger’s syndrome.
In addition to her clinical based OT experience, Alison has worked with clients in school based environments inclusive of The Autism Association of Singapore(AAS), MINDSville- Children’s Wing and private schools. Alison has also worked with children with cerebral palsy at The Spastic Children's Association of Singapore (SCAS). She has had the pleasure of presenting at Autism Association, Singapore and the Down Syndrome Association.
Invested in her clinical skills, Alison has avidly taken many courses,
seminars and conferences to assist with her development in the field of pediatrics. She is adept in the application of various intervention modalities
